Bosch eBike Systems gives Bike for Life a leg up

Not being able to get where you would like to go for social activities because you simply do not have the means: that is transport poverty. You may not notice it when you cycle down the street, but for many people, owning a two-wheeler is a luxury they can't afford: 392,000 households do not have a single bicycle at home.

4,410 cyclists from 51 employers left the car at home and have chosen the bike for their commutes during Bike for Life (3-31 October). Together, they completed 46,945 sponsored bike rides, good for €52,925, a record! In total, no less than 361,222 km were cycled to work and 63 tonnes of CO² were saved.

A bike for all
With the sums cycled together, the Fietsersbond will be able to support local volunteers in various places in 2023 to help people who are in need of a bicycle but cannot afford it.

Bosch eBike Systems, main sponsor of Bike for Life, is working hard to give as many people as possible the mobility they need to fully participate in society. Vineeta Diels, Marketing Communication Manager Bosch eBike Systems Benelux: "We are therefore proud to support Bike for Life and 'A bike for all'. By motivating companies, schools, cities and organisations to take the bike for the daily commute, we raise money to bring bicycles and e-bikes to the vulnerable in our society. This way, we give them more freedom of movement, opportunities and social contacts."
